“Hear the difference with the highest quality performance cables”

Welcome to our shop.

Van Damme Pro Grade Classic XKE Instrument Cable is a relatively low capacitance unbalanced audio cable for use with guitars, keyboards and other unbalanced output devices. Its tight construction and dual screens of conductive thermoplastic and close lapped copper ensure noise free handling and excellent noise rejection making this cable ideal for on stage use.

Material

The cable conductor is made of a mixture of Ultra Pure Oxygen-Free Copper, Silver Coated and Ultra Pure Oxygen-Free Copper. As with other Van Damme cables, ultra-pure oxygen-free copper increases conductivity and ease of soldering. An additional advantage of UPSPOFC (Ultra Pure Oxygen-Free Copper, Silver Coated) is approximately 5% lower resistance than copper. High frequencies, which flow outside the conductor, due to the skin effect, are conducted slightly better than low frequencies, which tend to fill the UPOFC conductor. Additionally, silver has a lower ability to corrode than copper, so the coating provides a protective barrier between the conductor and insulation from free air. Foam polyethylene (PEF) was used as insulation. Polyethylene is a good insulating material for this type of signal, with a low dielectric constant and relative flexibility. Foam, i.e. placing air bubbles inside the polyethylene, additionally reduces the dielectric constant to approximately 1.7 -1.8. The use of such an insulator allows the capacitance parameter to be kept as low as possible and its stability along the entire length of the cable. In the language of musicians, the low capacitance of the cable means that the high frequencies in the signal are transferred more efficiently and cleanly, and are not carried away to the screen, dulling and shortening the transmission of the audio signal. PEF insulation places the conductor at the center of the cable, overlaid with a thermoplastic conductive layer covered with a tight braid of oxygen-free copper shielding, providing excellent shielding and making handling noise negligible. Please note when terminating this cable that the black conductive thermoplastic layer beneath the copper braid must be separated from the center conductor. If the conductor touches the screen, a short circuit occurs, resulting in no signal transmission.
