Van Damme Blue Studio Series 2 Pair Multicore Cable. This is the analogue pre-jacketed cable of choice for the professional users. Extremely flexible, sonically transparent and intelligently designed with both numbered and colour coded pairs. This cable more than satisfies the rigorous demands of studio engineers, installers and manufacturers. It has been extensively utilised in studios around the world from the BBC to Abbey Road.
Material
The cable conductor is made of a mixture of ultra-pure oxygen-free copper, silver-plated and ultra-pure oxygen-free copper. As with other Van Damme cables, ultra-pure oxygen-free copper increases conductivity and ease of soldering. An additional advantage of UPSPOFC (Ultra Pure Oxygen-Free Copper, Silver Coated) is approximately 5% lower resistance than copper. High frequencies, which flow outside the conductor, due to the skin effect, are conducted slightly better than low frequencies, which tend to fill the UPOFC conductor. Additionally, silver has a lower ability to corrode than copper, so the coating provides a protective barrier between the conductor and insulation from free air. Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) was used to insulate the conductors. The advantage of this solution is a clear advantage compared to other insulating materials such as conventional polyethylene. XLPE has a dielectric constant of 2.2 at 1kHz, significant minimization of signal loss at high frequencies, and stability at high temperatures. This stability makes the insulation material resistant to shrinkage during the soldering process. It also has good resistance to abrasion and breaking, which decreases only at -40 degrees Celsius. The cable sheath is made of an abrasion-resistant PVC/Neoprene composite, ensuring adequate flexibility even at negative temperatures.
Applications
•Audio multicore looms for 2 - 48 pairs.
•Multipin breakout cables.
•Fixed installations in areas not requiring Low Smoke Zero Halogen cables.
•Static stagebox systems for example in schools, colleges & Houses of Worship.
•Recording and post production equipment interconnects.
•Wiring of B Gauge & Bantam patchbays where individual screens are required.
•Industrial paired data transmission where flexibility is required.
Applications Notes
•For the transmission of multiple analogue balanced audio signals.
•Extremely flexible jacketing materials used.
•Pre-jacketed pairs ideal for formed equipment and rack wiring.
•Application checked overall diameters - 2 pair fits into a Neutrik balanced jack; 8 pair sized to suit D25 shells.
•Ultra-pure oxygen free copper for outstanding sonic integrity.
